Belly Dance Cardio - Beginner Lvl 2

Nothing sensuous about this class: We warm up and then don't stop the music till the end of class, and we mean business. Shimmy your body to gain stamina while burning calories and toning legs and arms. This class is not for novices, but advanced beginners (2+ six week courses experience). Here, we don't teach moves - we use them, and again 2..3..4..

Prerequisite:
Any 2 Beginner level courses

Get exposed to body undulations, turns, shimmies and upper body isolations of this ancient and beautiful dance form.

Belly dancing not only works your midsection, it makes for a full-body workout that shapes and tones muscles, including transverse abdominals, tones the upper body, obliques, glutes, quadriceps and calves by isolating the muscles through stretching and exercise, including lunges and belly flutters, hip circles, and shimmying.

What is Belly Dance Cardio?

Cardiovascular exercise simply means that you're involved in an activity that raises your heart rate to a level where you're working, but can still talk (aka, in your Target Heart Rate Zone).
  • It's one way to burn calories and help you lose weight
  • It makes your heart strong so that it doesn't have to work as hard to pump blood
  • It increases your lung capacity
  • It helps reduce risk of heart attack, high cholesterol, high blood pressure and diabetes
  • It makes you feel good
  • It helps you sleep better
  • It helps reduce stress

Why Belly Dance Cardio?

You can achieve the same cardio effect by running in circles, pumping weights, or climbing stairs.

Belly Dance Cardio is so much more fun than that:

  • It's women only
  • We use fun Middle Eastern dance music
  • We use belly dance moves, so in addition to a workout, you also practice belly dancing
  • You can wear your coin sash and be fabulous
  • There are no novices (2 courses minimum prerequisite)
  • We don't slow down or stop to teach a move - we just keep doing them, and faster this time!

Attire

Loose workout cloths, thick socks or ballet slippers.
    You might want to bring:
  • Your coin sash,
  • a towel,
  • and definitely some water!

Walk-ins welcome (see prerequisites)

By popular demand this class is a pay-as-you-go, $10/session.

Prerequisites

You must have completed at least two 6-week courses in our studio, or have the equivalent (12 sessions) from the Belly Dance Workout classes. Transfer students, please contact us at 404 638 6530 to discuss your qualifications.

The prerequisite is necessary since we do not teach moves in this course, but use them, so you need to know the basic belly dance moves and their names.
