You also have 3 practices supervised by a teacher, your dress rehearsal supervised by Schadia & you get to be in this super fabulous show AT NO ADDITIONAL COST TO YOU. All you buy is your costume. Everything else is free!
    • If you already have the same pants/top/skirt etc., you'll get a discount for the piece(s) you already own. The discount is typically 50% of the retail cost of the item(s) to reflect its share of covering practice-times and supervision and outfit discount, which are priced in.
    • You'll need a caftan for every show you're in, but you can use the same one for every show (wear it to & from classes, too)
    • A coordinated pair of shoes is used for the outfits. A one-time investment.

    PRACTICE AT THE STUDIO!

And... last, but definitely the most important part, the PRACTICES! Below is the complete studio practice schedule for the Student Groups. As a student dancer, you will be REQUIRED TO ATTEND ONE WEEKLY PRACTICE AT THE STUDIO with your group and to practice extensively at home on your own. As you can see below there are separate times for the different dances. The dancers will be (self) assigned to a group at the inital meeting. You will only be required to come to the practice for your group.

Just to be very clear: you will be required to come to (see dates below)

    • Initial Sign Up Meeting
    • Staging of your dance group
    • Every practice (!) at your group's assigned time at the studio
    • Dress rehersal (last practice, always @ PMTR Studio)
    • Setup and final run through at the studio (the Friday before the Shows @ PMTR Studio)
    • After show break-down and clean-up (Sunday at Pmtr right after the show)

    Important:

You will be expected to be on time and to stay the entire time of each activity. Do not commit to being in this show if you can not guarantee that your schedule will allow you to attend ALL activities. THERE ARE NO EXCUSES OR EXCEPTIONS WHATSOEVER.

If you miss a practice and/or are more than 15 minutes late for whatever reason, you will be staged out of the dance, and you will not perform. No refunds.

I know this sounds harsh, but this is the only way to ensure that everyone is treated fairly & equally. This also ensures that all of our valuable time is used as constructively as possible. We have very little time to prepare you to be as fabulous as you possibly can be. The members of the Nazeem Allayl Studios' staff give their valuable time to your group, and everyone in the group is expected to take full advantage of it - hence not allowing anyone to be absenct or more than 15 minutes late.

    Ticket Sales

We have assigned seating, which means you buy the exact seat that you/your friends & family will be sitting in. Please make sure your guests are aware of this and don't bring babies/children without having a seat/ticket for them. There is no room for "sitting on the lap". No exceptions.

Three lots of tickets will be available, one for sale at each studo . This allows us to have seperate "going on sale" time slots for each studio without bias.

Exception: The first day we sell tickets at Perimeter only !!!
Please note, historically we sell about half the tickets on the first day, with early birds lining up about one hour before ticket sales start. Please bring cash for larger orders, as we sell only up to 6 tickets on check; cash only for more tickets (and no, multiple checks don't count). So if you buy tickets for others, please get cash.

    • Ticket Sales Starting:
      Windy HillPerimeterLittle 5 Points
      TBA
and from there on during regular shopping hours
      at all studios before/after class

There is no refund on the tickets, but most likely you will be able to sell them to other students.

    Frequent Questions

Q: Can I be in multiple groups, i.e. Beginner and Intermediate?
A: Yes, you can (assuming time slots do not conflict) [not Abgal Alena and Jasmine - same practice times]

Q: I am new to the studio. I don't know the choreography being performed yet. Can I still be in the Show?
A: Yes, but only if you take the one day workshop scheduled before the show that teaches the choreography you want to perform. And, yes you will be fabulous.

Q: Are there tryouts? I am not sure if I am good enough ...
A: No tryouts, any current student can perform, and you will be fabulous.

    Q: I think I am tall/short/big boned/skinny/young/old, can I still perform?
A: Yes - everyone can perform. And, yes you will be fabulous.

Q: I can make all but one of the practices, can I still perform?
A: No. You miss any scheduled practice, and you are out.

Q: My schedule requires that I have to come 20 minutes late to one/some practices, can I still perform?
A: No, 15 minutes late and you are out.

Q: What happends if there is an emergency and I am late/miss a practice, can I still perform?
A: No. You miss any scheduled practice, and you are out.

Q: Isn't that a little too harsh? Miss one/late and you are out...
A: No. We will have 300 paying guests, who expect a good show. We have only 3 practices, one staging, one dress rehearsal, and the setup for a total of 6 meetings within a 7 week window to get ready for this show. There is no time for "late", there is no way to reschedule, leaving us with no other option.

Q: So you talk tough, but then make exceptions?
A: No. Absolutely not. The rules are the same for everyone - Schadia, She'nez, Mahtaab right on down to the most beginner student we have. Everyone is treated equally - no exceptions. Period.

Q: So you staged me out of the show because I could not make/was late to a practice. Can I get a refund on the costume/tickets?
A: No. These are special order, often to your size, and now used.

Q: When do the tickets go on sale?
A: Tickets go on sale at about a month before the show, the exact date is announced via email and the website. See above for the exact procedure and timeline of the ticket sales.

Q: Can I get a refund on the tickets (like if I am staged out of the show)?
A: No. But most likely other students will be more than happy to buy your tickets.

Q: Can my guest videotape my performance?
A: No. The choreographies are copyright protected by us. But we do videotape the show, which is for sale about 2 weeks after the show at the studio on a DVD w/menus and the proper copyright.

Q: Can they take pictures of me?
A: Not this time. Consumer camera's flash is not strong enough for the big stage, and only disturbs the video. Often, people stand up or hold a camera above their head to take a picture, which never looks good and always blocks someone elses view. We have an official photographer taking pictures and we post them on the website for you after the show.

Q: Do little children need tickets too?
A: Yes. And please make sure your guests are aware of this and don't bring babies without having a ticket for them. It breaks my heart to have to send them home. There is no room for "sitting on the lap". No exceptions.

Q: I want to be staged so that I perform in front of my guests from my good side. Can you accomodate that?
A: No. Too many changes will happen during the staging and later on to even consider such a request. What we try to do is to have circular components and position changes in the choreography so that your guests will see both the front, back and/or sides of your costume at most times. And if you buy premium tickets, you are guaranteed to be visible most of the time.

Q: Since the shows are now at the studio, which seats are the best?
A: That depends. The $35 tickets are obviously better than the $15 tickets, as there are no people in front of you. But the last (sold) row can stand up without obstructing anyone, and thus can see quite well, too. The individual dances and the troupe dances are focused towards the F2 area, where the offical camera stands. The student dances, on the other hand, are setup mostly lengthwise, so either R or L can see them from the side. The best compromise is F1 and F3, from where the offical pictures are taken.
